Job summary

GitLab is seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer to shape the next phase of GitLab Dedicated, our fully managed single-tenant SaaS offering. This highly influential technical leadership role will set direction for how we scale a growing fleet of isolated, customer-specific environments while maintaining the reliability, security, and compliance our customers depend on.

Qualifications

Deep expertise in SRE, platform, or backend engineering.
Hands-on with cloud infra, automation, observability, and IaC.
Strong software fundamentals in Go, Ruby, Python, or similar.
Proven leadership across multiple teams.
Experience transforming platforms or scaling systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

Set technical direction for GitLab Dedicated and scale single-tenant environments.
Lead platform transformations across resilience, failover, orchestration, and tooling.
Drive modular architecture aligning with Cells strategy while preserving security and compliance.
Strengthen service ownership and operational maturity across production systems.
Identify reliability risks using production signals and incident patterns.
Establish reusable platform patterns to reduce toil and enable scaling.
Lead complex technical decisions across teams balancing reliability, cost, and customer needs.
Advance engineering excellence through mentorship and architectural influence.
