Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a Staff Site Reliability Engineer to lead reliability and scalability for Splunk Agent Observability's platform. You will own reliability strategy, drive major deployment initiatives, and mentor teams across cloud and on-prem environments.

Responsibilities include defining SLOs, capacity planning, and incident response, with a focus on automation and platform resiliency at scale. Hybrid work model with on-site days in SF/ SJ as described in the posting.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in Site Reliability Engineering / related fields or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years operating large-scale Kubernetes platforms in production.
• Experience designing highly available, scalable, resilient distributed systems.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or other public cloud platforms.
• Strong experience designing CI/CD platforms and deployment automation at scale.

Responsibilities

• Define the reliability and scalability roadmap for the platform.
• Lead architecture of deployment platforms for cloud and air-gapped environments.
• Establish SRE standards: SLOs, capacity planning, operational readiness, resiliency reviews.
• Drive major reliability initiatives across Kubernetes, deployment infra, databases, and networking.
• Automate to reduce toil and increase engineering productivity.
• Design and build internal platforms and tooling for reliable operations at scale.
• Lead incident response and drive long-term remediation via root cause analysis.
• Influence platform architecture and production readiness with engineering leadership.
• Mentor engineers and raise the engineering bar through reviews and guidelines.
• Collaborate with customers and teams to build secure, scalable deployment architectures.
