Job summary

Slack is seeking a Platform Orchestration Engineer to lead end-to-end delivery of software projects that improve how services are deployed, operated, and observed across Slack’s infrastructure.

You will design and build foundational orchestration systems, develop tools to streamline CD, automate incident workflows, and monitor reliability metrics, using Infrastructure as Code and AWS-native services to drive consistency and scalability.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals; write clean, scalable code.
• Curiosity and a systems mindset; understanding platform layers and orchestration.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end delivery of software projects that improve deployment, management, and observability across Slack’s infrastructure.
• Design and build foundational orchestration systems for reliable, scalable, compliant service operations.
• Develop tools to streamline continuous delivery, automate incidents, and track service health and reliability metrics.
• Implement platform solutions using infrastructure-as-code, automation frameworks, and AWS-native services.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate platform capabilities into workflows for faster, more reliable shipping.
• Contribute to and extend internal frameworks that support deployment workflows and lifecycle management.
• Advocate for platform efficiency and cost-conscious engineering via tooling and cross-team engagement.
• Drive adoption of best practices in service orchestration and cloud resource usage to lower costs.
