Job summary

Talener is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to help design, build, and scale a cloud-based workflow orchestration platform for a rapidly transforming organization. You will work hands-on to develop production-grade software in Python, implement orchestration frameworks, and ensure reliability at scale.

The role is remote from the United States for a 3-month contract with the potential for extension. Strong AWS and SQL experience, CI/CD, and observability practices are essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software or backend engineering experience.
• Strong Python development experience in production systems.
• Experience designing, implementing, and supporting production workflow orchestration platforms.
• Hands-on with Prefect or similar orchestration technologies.
• Experience deploying and operating cloud-native applications in AWS.
• Strong SQL skills with modern cloud data platforms.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability practices.
• Experience integrating systems via APIs and data pipelines.
• Terraform or IaC familiarity is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain workflow orchestration solutions using Python.
• Build scalable, observable data and application workflows for critical operations.
• Integrate cloud data platforms and internal/third-party services via APIs.
• Develop deployment pipelines, release processes, and environment management.
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerts, and operational visibility.
• Design retry strategies and fault-tolerant workflow execution.
• Support secure configuration, authentication, and secrets management.
• Collaborate with data, application, and cloud teams to deliver platform capabilities.
• Create deployment guides and runbooks; troubleshoot production issues.
