Gap Inc. is seeking a Senior Director, Platform Engineering to lead the strategy, development, and operations of our enterprise cloud platform across Azure and GCP.

You will own the Continuous Delivery Platform built on Kubernetes, drive FinOps to optimize cloud spend, and empower teams to ship software rapidly and reliably. You will shape the modern DevOps tech stack, champion infrastructure automation with Terraform, and lead governance, observability, and platform adoption across the

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressive experience in software or platform engineering.
• At least 5 years in senior leadership roles managing managers.
• Strong cloud platform experience (Azure and/or GCP) required or strongly preferred.
• Proven track record building and operating Kubernetes-based platforms at scale.
• Executive communication skills to translate tech strategy for non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute multi-cloud platform strategy across Azure and GCP.
• Lead design of shared platform services and self-service capabilities.
• Own API gateway and Istio service mesh for secure service-to-service communication.
• Drive CI/CD, GitOps, and progressive delivery practices.
• Champion developer experience as a product with self-service tooling and portals.
• Establish platform metrics and reliability standards aligned with DORA.
