Job summary

Choco is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Platform, to build the technical foundation enabling multiple engineering teams to ship, operate, and scale software reliably. You will evolve backend architecture, infrastructure, and developer tooling while solving complex problems end-to-end.

The role emphasizes ownership of platform reliability, scalable services, and collaboration with product engineering to remove bottlenecks.

Qualifications

• Significant experience building and operating backend systems at meaningful production scale.
• Strong experience with distributed systems, microservices, event‑driven architectures, scalable APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
• Track record of owning complex technical problems from discovery through implementation and production operation.
• Sound engineering judgement on when to improve, simplify, or redesign systems.
• Experience with TypeScript is a plus; open to Go, Java, Kotlin, or similar ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable backend systems, platform capabilities, and shared services used across Engineering.
• Improve developer experience through reusable tooling, frameworks, APIs, and automation.
• Operate and continuously improve distributed production systems with reliability and maintainability in mind.
• Partner with Product Engineering teams to solve complex technical problems and remove platform bottlenecks.
• Drive technical initiatives from architecture through implementation, rollout, and operational adoption.
• Make pragmatic engineering decisions balancing long-term quality with business priorities.
• Prepare Choco's platform for enterprise-scale growth.
