Job summary

The Trade Desk in New York is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and implement scalable components within internal developer platforms and distributed systems, enhancing productivity and reliability across engineering teams.

You will refactor tooling, lead cross-functional technical initiatives, and develop reusable APIs and libraries, using telemetry to drive architectural improvements and prioritization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Computer Engineering, or related field; or foreign equivalent.
• Six years of experience in the job offered or related role, or four years with a Master's.
• Experience with REST APIs or gRPC and one language among Python/Java/JavaScript/C/C++.
• Proficiency with relational databases/SQL, AWS, Kubernetes and Docker, and object storage (S3/Azure Blob).
• Two years of experience with Grafana, Prometheus, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable software components and infrastructure within internal developer platforms and distributed systems.
• Refactor tooling, services, and workflows to reduce friction and improve performance and reliability.
• Conduct technical design and code reviews, ensuring secure coding and architectural alignment.
• Guide software design patterns and best practices across teams as a technical advisor.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives spanning services and domains, including rollout planning and backward compatibility.
• Develop reusable frameworks and internal APIs to enable standardized integration.
• Own shared libraries or SDKs used by multiple teams and use telemetry to drive priorities.
