Job summary

Tempus AI, Inc. in the United States seeks a Senior Software Engineer (Platform Engineering) to architect and deliver Java-based microservices that modernize the platform using Spring Boot, AWS ECS/Fargate, and secure REST APIs.

You will decompose the PHP/Symfony monolith, guide CI/CD maturation, mentor engineers, and collaborate with QA, DevOps, Product, Architecture, and Regulatory teams to ensure compliant, production-ready software in a remote-friendly US setting.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend focus.
• Expert-level proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, with distributed systems experience.
• Experience decomposing monolithic apps into microservices.
• Hands-on AWS experience (ECS/Fargate, SQS, SNS, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, IAM).
• Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, or similar IaC tooling.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture, design, and implementation of Java/Spring Boot microservices.
• Define target-state architecture and upgrade paths; document for stakeholders.
• Decompose legacy PHP/Symfony into microservices.
• Build AWS-native solutions (ECS/Fargate, SQS, SNS, S3, Lambda).
• Develop secure REST APIs with proper validation and auth.
