Job summary

Omni Federal, a DoD-focused software solutions provider, seeks a Senior Platform Engineer to design, deploy, and operate modern data infrastructure in AWS GovCloud. You will own the Kubernetes platform and IaC modules, while driving reliability, cost optimization, and self-service tooling for Data Engineers and DevSecOps teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional infrastructure/platform engineering experience with hands-on ownership of cloud infrastructure in production.
• Strong experience with AWS GovCloud, and managing data services like MSK, EMR, Aurora, S3, and Glue at the infrastructure level.
• Proven ability to own Kubernetes cluster architecture/operations (EKS), including scaling, upgrades, networking and security.
• Proficient in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and remote state management for shared platforms.
• Experience with platform reliability practices: monitoring, on-call incident response, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.
• Scripting/automation skills (Python, Bash) for infrastructure tooling.
• Ability to work independently and mentor less experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the foundational AWS GovCloud infrastructure underpinning the Data Operations platform.
• Design and operate core data infrastructure: MSK, EMR, Aurora, S3, Glue, with performance and cost considerations.
• Own the Kubernetes platform architecture and operations (EKS), including upgrades and security posture.
• Develop and maintain Terraform modules and remote state management for reusable foundations.
• Implement and maintain platform reliability practices: monitoring, alerting, incident response, DR/backup.
• Manage cost visibility and optimization across the GovCloud footprint.
• Provide self-service tooling and documentation for data engineers and DevSecOps teams.
• Mentor teammates and provide technical guidance within the team.
