Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to advance authentication and authorization across our platform. You will build secure, low-latency Go services and drive designs for OAuth, sessions, tokens, and edge authorization to support Coinbase products and partner integrations.

You will collaborate with product, security, and infra teams to balance user experience with security and regulatory requirements, while mentoring engineers and delivering cross-functional projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend software engineering experience in production.
• Strong API design and authentication/authorization understanding.
• Experience with Go, gRPC, and distributed systems.
• Familiar with Redis or DynamoDB and observability practices.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design and operation of authentication and authorization capabilities.
• Build secure Go and gRPC services with strong observability.
• Lead technical designs for tokens, passkeys, biometric recovery, and edge authorization.
• Collaborate with product, security, fraud, and infra teams to balance goals.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar through reviews and on-call.
