Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Access & Authorization team. You’ll help shape authentication and authorization across Coinbase products and partner integrations, balancing security and user experience.

You'll design and build secure, low-latency services in Go, with observability and SLOs, collaborating with product, security, and infra teams to scale access controls for a global audience.

Qualifications

• 8 years of backend software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Go or similar systems language in production.
• Experience designing secure APIs (OAuth, OpenID Connect, JWT).

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design and operation of authentication and authorization capabilities.
• Build Go and gRPC services with observability and SLOs.
• Lead designs for tokens, passkeys, biometric recovery, and edge auth.
• Collaborate with product, security, fraud, and infra teams to balance needs.
• Create self-service tooling for safe adoption at scale.
• Mentor engineers and participate in reviews/on-call.
