Job summary

Medidata Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Staff Cloud Platform Engineer in Iselin, NJ, with a hybrid work policy. The role focuses on expanding analytics through robust, scalable Lakehouse data pipelines and data infrastructure that powers internal analytics and user-facing product features.

You will work with Python, GitOps, and short development cycles to build reliable data platforms, mentor engineers, and deliver high-quality data solutions across distributed teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Strong track record building and operating reliable data pipelines with analytics focus.
• Experience with distributed processing and query engines like Apache Spark and Trino.
• Experience implementing dbt in production environments with modeling, testing, and documentation.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Iceberg in production environments.
• Experience with Iceberg catalogs such as Polaris or Lakekeeper for governance and metadata.
• Familiarity with data ingestion tools such as Fivetran or Airbyte.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services.
• Comfort working in English with distributed teams.

Responsibilities

• Take end-to-end ownership of Lakehouse components from design to deployment, collaborating with Infrastructure to operate scalable analytics systems.
• Collaborate with Data Ops and Product teams to integrate data from multiple sources and design efficient data flows.
• Write RFCs, lead technical discussions, and mentor Analytics Engineers working within the Lakehouse framework.
• Engage with managers to product teams translating monitoring and analytics requirements into actionable projects.
• Participate in team rituals and pair with different domains to improve data ingestion, curation, and exposure.
