Job summary

Defense Unicorns is seeking a Sr. Platform Engineer to join the Navy Delivery team. You will bridge application teams and the Navy platform, enabling secure, scalable deployments on the Unicorn Delivery Service and Kubernetes environments.

You’ll work across CI/CD, container strategies, and IaC, collaborating with diverse teams to implement secure, reliable solutions and maintain production runtime concerns.

Qualifications

• Professional experience deploying and operating production applications or platform environments.
• Hands-on with cloud-native tech, containers, CI/CD, IaC, or Kubernetes.
• Strong Linux/Unix skills and ability to troubleshoot across layers.
• Experience with application architectures, sources, APIs, containers, runtime dependencies, or deployment requirements.
• Experience with YAML configurations like Kubernetes manifests, Helm, CRDs, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with security practices for applications, APIs, containers, or cloud infra.

Responsibilities

• Act as a link between applications and the Navy platform environment, promoting best practices and facilitating communication between teams.
• Innovate and solve problems across multiple knowledge domains with focus on secure, reliable deployments.
• Demonstrate broad technical skill; contribute to strategic planning aligned with mission objectives.
• Exhibit strong programming skills and deep Linux/Unix familiarity.
• Implement infrastructure as code and help build/maintain Kubernetes clusters (EKS/RKE2).
• Apply cloud-native deployment experience with emphasis on secure coding and remediation.
• Build relationships with external teams and collaborate with other platform teams.
