Job summary

Defense Unicorns seeks a Platform Engineer to design and implement secure, scalable deployment pipelines for Navy apps on the Unicorn Delivery Service. Remote-eligible role in the United States, with travel 4–12 times per year.

You will work at the intersection of platform engineering, DevOps, and application security, partnering with different teams to automate, secure, and operate software across Kubernetes cohorts.

Qualifications

• Production apps or platform experience required.
• Hands-on cloud-native tech, containers, CI/CD, IaC, or Kubernetes.
• Strong Linux/Unix troubleshooting skills.
• YAML/Kubernetes manifests, Helm, CRDs, or CI/CD pipelines familiarity.
• Security practices for apps, APIs, containers, and cloud infra.
• U.S. government security clearance eligibility and DoD 8570 IAT II.

Responsibilities

• Bridge applications and the Navy platform with best practices.
• Develop, secure, deploy, and operate software on UDS and Kubernetes.
• Collaborate with teams to translate needs into deployment artifacts.
• Embed secure coding and remediation in the lifecycle.
• Build and maintain Kubernetes clusters (EKS/RKE2) and CI/CD components.
