Job summary

ELLKAY LLC is seeking a Principal Platform Engineer to own the design, build, and operational health of its global infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and on‑prem environments. This is a hands‑on role bridging Platform Engineering and SRE teams, with a focus on reliability, security, and cost governance.

You will codify everything with Terraform, design CI/CD for Kubernetes workloads, and mentor engineers while improving observability and incident response across hybrid environments.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in platform engineering, infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles.
• Deep, production-grade experience with both AWS and Azure in a hybrid model.
• Expert Terraform experience with module design and state management.
• CI/CD pipelines for Kubernetes and Docker workloads; configuration management tooling.
• Observability stacks and defining meaningful SLIs/SLOs; incident lifecycle leadership.
• Cloud cost governance and security/compliance in multi-cloud environments.
• Strong scripting (Python/Go/Bash) and excellent cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities

• Own design, build, and operational health of infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and on-prem environments.
• Architect and maintain IaC with reusable Terraform modules and CI/CD pipelines for Kubernetes services.
• Define deployment strategies and automation; partner with teams to streamline path from commit to production.
• Own configuration management tooling and secrets management across hybrid environments.
• Design observability patterns, SLIs/SLOs, dashboards, and alerting to improve MTTR and MTTD.
• Lead production incident responses and drive durable remediation; mentor engineers.
• Design cost governance and security guardrails; enforce policy-as-code and governance standards.
