Job summary

Soni is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate cloud and developer platforms at scale in Bethlehem, PA. You will own EKS/Kubernetes platforms, drive automation, and shape platform reliability and security.

As a senior IC, you will mentor engineers, set standards, and guide incident responses, working across teams to improve deployment and observability.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in platform engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, SRE, or related field.
• Strong hands-on Kubernetes and Amazon EKS, including production operations.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, Terraform or equivalent.
• Experience building and operating CI/CD automation using Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions.
• Strong Python and Shell scripting skills.
• Understanding of reliability, security, scalability, and operations trade-offs.

• Develop automation and tooling using Python, Shell, Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and related technologies.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across Kubernetes, Linux, containers, networking, CI/CD, security, and observability.
• Design and operate cloud platforms supporting containerized, web, API, background, and serverless workloads.
• Build security controls, validation gates, and safe deployment and rollback processes into platform and CI/CD workflows.
• Integrate monitoring, observability, alerting, and security scanning into platform and application delivery processes.
• Serve as a senior escalation point for production incidents and drive root cause analysis

Soni's client, a leading enterprise organization, is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to design, build, and operate cloud and developer platforms at scale. This role will have a strong focus on Amazon EKS/Kubernetes, while also supporting automation, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Linux, and serverless technologies.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage Amazon EKS platforms, including architecture, upgrades, nodes, AMIs, add-ons, and lifecycle management.
• Develop automation and tooling using Python, Shell, Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and related technologies.

Required Qualifications

• Strong hands‑on experience with Kubernetes and Amazon EKS, including production operations and platform upgrades.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform or equivalent technologies.
• Experience building and operating CI/CD automation using Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions.
• Strong Python and Shell scripting skills.
• Solid understanding of how application architecture decisions affect reliability, security, scalability, and operations.

• Lead‑level senior individual contributor with strong hands‑on technical capabilities.
• Comfortable serving as a technical authority and escalation point for platform engineering issues.
• Able to operate independently and make sound technical decisions in ambiguous environments.
• Strong problem‑solving and incident‑response skills with a pragmatic, hands‑on approach.
• Experience establishing engineering standards, automation guardrails, and repeatable operational practices.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to mentor engineers and influence cross‑functional technical decisions.
