Job summary

K2 Space in Los Angeles is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer (DevX) to build and evolve a scalable AI-enabled platform backbone across AI and application teams. You will work on an enterprise information systems stack, connecting engineering, production, and mission control for rapid orbit-ready delivery.

You will own Kubernetes/EKS, AI tooling, and observability, delivering secure, scalable platform capabilities. Join a fast-growing space startup with strong equity and benefits.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Computer Science (or equivalent) with 8+ years building/distributing platform systems.
• Strong knowledge of production Kubernetes/EKS ownership.
• Experience evaluating AI platforms, AI models, and new products.
• Proficiency in Go, TypeScript, Python or C# and disciplined SCM workflows.
• CI/CD pipelines experience with GitHub or GitLab.
• Observability and SLOs with metrics, tracing, logs, and policy enforcement.
• Infra as code with Terraform or CDK; GitOps and canary rollouts.

Responsibilities

• Build self-service integration for Amazon EKS through abstractions and multi-tenant governance.
• Develop consistent deployment processes for AI-assisted and general apps.
• Promote AI adoption with secure, observable model operations.
• Establish AI guardrails, observability, and governance.
• Contribute to golden path platform tooling and rapid go-live adoption.
• Lead long-term platform roadmap including AI capabilities and operations.
• Engineer resilient traffic paths with chaos testing and automated remediation.
• Drive end-to-end observability of requests; document flows and policies.
• Provide docs and diagnostics to shorten support loops.
• Optimize performance and cost; steward code lifecycle and migrations.
• Mentor engineers and drive platform adoption across teams.
• Build automated policies for good deployment practices and testing.
