Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the architecture and delivery of our internal Commerce Platform, powering how we package, price, and deliver products to 500,000+ small businesses nationwide. You will partner with product, data science, and cross‑functional teams, mentor engineers, drive multi‑quarter initiatives, and apply AI tools to accelerate velocity.

Travel to onboarding is required; SF/NY locations offer $197k-$247k, while Denver/remotes offer

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Deep experience building and operating large-scale backend platform systems (commerce, billing, pricing, packaging).
• Experience owning multi-quarter projects with measurable impact.
• Strong command of distributed systems, API design, and reliability practices (SLOs).
• Ability to lead cross-functional technical initiatives and align stakeholders.
• Ability to mentor engineers to maximize performance.
• Experience with large-scale refactors, performance and reliability issues.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design and architecture for parts of the Commerce Platform, including catalog, promotion engine, and subscription/entitlement systems.
• Partner with product management and cross-functional teams to define the platform roadmap and drive adoption.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of complex projects from requirements to rollout and iteration.
• Mentor and grow engineers through code/design reviews and coaching.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate engineering velocity and establish AI-enabled best practices.
• Collaborate with marketing and business teams to evolve the self-serve system for products, bundles, promotions, and discounts.
