Job summary

Alpaca is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Clearing team, focusing on post-trade systems that power day-to-day operations of a broker-dealer. The role centers on building scalable, reliable infrastructure with significant ownership from ideation to deployment.

You will work across internal teams to enable new products, improve existing systems, and participate in on-call rotations to keep services healthy. Strong distributed-systems experience and hands-on Go knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience building reliable and distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of databases, networking and distributed systems behavior.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and spotting bad ones.
• Familiarity with Go, PostgreSQL and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Nice-to-have experience with gRPC, Protobuf, Temporal, Grafana, Docker or Helm.

Responsibilities

• Own projects from ideation to deployment and deliver practical, meaningful solutions.
• Design and build systems to enable new products and revenue.
• Refine and evolve existing infrastructure for reliability and scale.
