Job summary

AssetMark is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to lead design and implementation of mission-critical platform systems, APIs, and foundational architecture. Hybrid work near Charlotte, NC, with mentoring responsibilities for other engineers and setting technical standards for scalable infrastructure.

You will drive architectural decisions, governance, and patterns across multiple teams, while ensuring security and regulatory compliance in an enterprise fintech environment.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in platform engineering, API design, and service-oriented architectures.
• Strong background in cloud-native development, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience with data architecture, enterprise integration patterns, and event-driven systems.
• Experience with performance optimization, scalability engineering, and system reliability.
• Knowledge of DevOps, infrastructure-as-code, and modern deployment practices.
• Understanding of enterprise security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
• Proven ability to drive architectural decisions and influence technical direction.
• Strong mentorship skills and experience leading complex technical initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement mission-critical platform features and foundational systems
• Shape platform architecture through specifications and code implementation
• Build and maintain frameworks that simplify development for application teams
• Drive platform architecture through strategic technical decisions
• Author technical design documents for complex platform capabilities
• Create enterprise-scale data management, API governance, and service integration solutions
• Implement large-scale refactoring to improve code quality and performance
• Build canonical source-of-truth data systems with governance and compliance
• Design standardized patterns for service integration and cross-application workflows
• Establish and enforce API design principles, versioning and governance
• Improve platform development practices across multiple teams
• Teach other engineers effective platform development and code reviews
• Establish platform community practices around secure coding and data privacy
• Balance technical debt with platform evolution while maintaining reliability
• Coordinate platform work across multiple development teams and resolve dependencies
• Ensure architecture meets security, compliance, and regulatory requirements
• Design systems that scale to enterprise demands
• Work with data governance and master data management principles
• Support modernization initiatives and legacy transformation
• Collaborate with enterprise architecture and security teams on platform decisions
