Job summary

AssetMark is seeking a Senior Data Engineer/Technical Lead to architect and govern a scalable data platform, blending hands-on coding with strategic leadership. The role focuses on Azure and Snowflake, data modeling, and integrating AI/ML capabilities into data workflows. Hybrid schedule near Charlotte, NC.

Responsibilities include end-to-end ELT/ETL design, tool selection, cost optimization, and mentoring engineers while ensuring data quality and security across production datasets.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data engineering or software engineering with cloud data platforms.
• Strong Python and advanced SQL expertise with data modeling knowledge.
• Experience leading technical design sessions and mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical vision for modern data architecture on Azure and Snowflake.
• Lead end-to-end ELT/ETL pipelines for mission-critical workloads.
• Evaluate new data tools, orchestrators, and observability platforms.
• Implement FinOps practices to optimize compute and storage costs.
• Write and review complex Python/SQL code; contribute hands-on delivery.
• Own data quality, lineage, governance, and security policies.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and lead CI/CD implementations.
• Collaborate with Security, Compliance, and Data Science teams on data strategy.
• Architect data flows to support AI/ML model training and MLOps.
• Pilot GenAI techniques to automate engineering tasks and create data products.
