Job summary

Joby Aviation is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to build and evolve the engineering platform powering aircraft manufacturing software. You will own core infrastructure, pipelines, and tooling, enabling self-service for developers and integrating AI into workflows.

The role emphasizes producing reliable, scalable systems across cloud and on-prem environments, with strong emphasis on security and compliance, and collaboration across multiple teams to accelerate software delivery.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years in platform, DevOps, or SRE roles with ownership of production systems
• Strong hands-on experience operating Kubernetes in production
• Strong CI/CD, GitOps, and IaC background (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Terraform)
• Proven Python production services development experience
• Experience with Azure or on-prem infrastructure
• Security-minded approach to platform design and cross-functional communication

Responsibilities

• Design and build the delivery system from CI/CD pipelines to internal tools and self-service capabilities.
• Build pipeline foundations for fast, reliable automated testing with ephemeroc environments and quality gates.
• Design and operate a shared Kubernetes platform across cloud and on-premises sites.
• Evaluate and integrate AI into development, testing, and operations workflows.
• Own infrastructure as code, observability, incident response, and post-incident reviews.
• Embed security and compliance controls into platform and pipelines.
