$72.89-$81.40/hr, $12,828-$14,326 month COMPENSATION RATE (depending on experience)

Our client is a large airline company based in the Greater Seattle Area.

SENIOR PLATFORM ENGINEER

Summary

The Senior Platform Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert. As an individual contributor, the candidate will join our platform team to help build and rollout our new Software Delivery Platform (SDP). The SDP is an internal developer platform that abstracts the complexity of deployment by building golden paths and enabling developer self-service. The candidate must demonstrate expert level skills in driving and implementing platform engineering initiatives that focus on enhancing the developers experience, use industry best practices, and ensure all deployments are safe, secure and cost-effective.

Key Duties

• Develop and maintain Kubernetes Operators using Golang.
• Design, build, and maintain an internal developer platform that focuses on enhancing the developer experience, enabling self-service, and reducing time to market.
• Work with development teams and product owners to help prioritize future enhancements of the internal developer platform.
• Develop standards for deploying and running infrastructure/applications on our internal developer platform and shared infrastructure runtime environments in our hybrid cloud environment (Azure, GCP).
• Drive the adoption of the internal developer portal to all teams across the enterprise.
• Serve as the point of escalation in the event of severe or critical issues impacting production operations.
• Ensure the internal developer platform is scalable, secure, and aligned with best practices.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

• Significant experience with programming languages such as Golang and experience building operators is required.
• Expert level knowledge and experience in Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD, and containerization.
• Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable deployment pipelines that utilize GitOps principles.
• Hands-on platform engineering experience with public clouds (Azure & GCP), including services such as Azure Kubernetes Service and Google Kubernetes Engine.
• Experience building and operating highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable production services using Kubernetes and Cloud-Native technologies (e.g., ArgoCD, Istio, Grafana, Loki, Helm, RKE2, etc.)
• Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes concepts such as Operator/Controller patterns, Cluster API, and multi-cluster.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
• Experience with CSI, CNI, Crossplane, Load Balancing, and Service Mesh frameworks.
• Knowledge of standard practices in observability and monitoring for Kubernetes clusters at scale, including experience in incorporating cost optimization techniques.
• Experience working with Spotify’s Backstage platform is a plus.
• Familiarity with working in an agile/scrum environment.
• Cloud and Platform engineering related technical certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator are required.
• Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Computer Science or a related field, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Duration: ASAP to start, to run for 12 months, with chance to extend.

Location: Role is open to fully remote candidates, supporting PST time zone.

Daily Schedule: M-F, 40 hours a week, no OT anticipated.

Hardware: Client will provide.

Role Requirements: Client requires a background test & a drug screen before start.
