Apr 30, 2025 - DomainTools is hiring a remote Senior Platform Engineer. Salary: $145,000 - $185,000 + 10% annual bonus. Location: USA.

Senior Platform Engineers

Translate high level platform design into low level technical design and are responsible for implementing, administering, supporting, and patching their corresponding platforms. Work closely with Engineering Architects to enable capabilities supporting platform programs and initiatives. Well-versed in modern data, infrastructure, and integration platforms, industry/technology best practices, with a focus on improving infrastructure reliability and scalability.

This position involves designing, building, supporting, installing, and configuring the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform in Cloud and On-Prem Environments.

1. Install, configure, and monitor applications and services in the OpenShift cluster.
2. Assess technical components to recommend improvements, translating high-level design into low-level configuration.
3. Ensure platform stability, availability, performance, and security compliance to meet SLAs; develop and execute validation test cases.
4. Collaborate with delivery teams and architects to build support mechanisms, CI/CD pipelines, and k8s operators, following DevOps and Agile practices.
5. Maintain the service catalog for the platform in collaboration with Engineering.
6. Optimize application, system, and cluster performance.
7. Plan capacity increases to ensure resource availability and meet budget targets.
8. Assist in building and testing Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans.
9. Manage platform roadmap, projects, and tickets; communicate with stakeholders.
10. Provide thought leadership on DevOps and Platform Engineering system and process design.
11. Create internal documentation on deployment, monitoring, and operators.
12. Mentor and develop engineers collaboratively.
13. Participate in an on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 7+ years in Linux systems engineering supporting servers and virtualization/container platforms
• 3+ years’ Kubernetes administration on Red Hat OpenShift
• Experience with infrastructure in public cloud and data centers using IaC tools
• 5+ years’ experience with monitoring/logging solutions like Prometheus, ELK
• Ability to automate efficiently using scripts, config management, CI pipelines, RHOS Operators
• Strong understanding of networking and storage technologies
• Proficiency in at least one high-level language (e.g., Golang, Python)
• Excellent communication skills, with ability to produce clear documentation
• Experience supporting customer-facing SaaS products
• Ability to handle complex, ambiguous problems and prioritize improvements
• High standards in communication, feedback, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
