Job summary

HireClout is seeking a Senior Platform Software Engineer to help modernize shared backend capabilities, AWS infrastructure, and cloud-native services. The role is remote and focuses on agentic development to deliver production-ready platform components.

You will own architecture, testing strategy, reliability, and security across the platform while collaborating with application teams to ensure secure, scalable services in a regulated data environment. This is a high-impact, remote opportunity.

Qualifications

  • Extensive backend engineering experience in Java, Python, C#, Kotlin, or Go.
  • Strong distributed systems fundamentals: API and event contracts, asynchronous messaging, concurrency, idempotency, consistency, failure handling, and versioning.
  • Hands-on AWS experience designing and operating production workloads.
  • Familiar with containers, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD.
  • Experience building shared backend foundations with compatibility, configuration, documentation, and adoption.
  • Reliability and security engineering in production: observability, SLOs, incident response, resilient architectures, and secure handling of sensitive or regulated data.
  • Agentic AI development experience and ability to specify platform work for agents.
  • Experience shipping production software using this approach and recognizing where human judgment is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build shared platform capabilities: architecture and delivery of reusable backend services, libraries, and integrations.
  • Make AWS infrastructure usable through software: abstractions, automation, and integration patterns for secure cloud use.
  • Direct implementation: decompose platform work, write specifications, delegate to AI agents, intervene when needed.
  • Engineer for reuse and testability: design for multiple consumers, backward compatibility, safe migrations.
  • Own the testing strategy and validate tests provide meaningful evidence.
  • Build reliability, security, and observability into the platform: defaults for authentication, authorization, failure handling, telemetry, and deployment safety.
  • Own production outcomes and platform adoption: review agent and human work with rigor, respond to incidents, and drive adoption.
  • Remain accountable for full lifecycle: planning, design, code, tests, review, production.

Job description

Job Title: Senior Platform Software Engineer

Location: Remote | Experience: 5–8 years (guideline, not a hard gate)

Role Overview

HIRECLOUT is partnering with an established, global technology-enabled services organization that is modernizing the software foundations behind its products. The engineering team builds shared backend capabilities, cloud-native services, and AWS infrastructure that application teams rely on, making secure, reliable, high-quality software easier to build and operate at scale without each team solving the same engineering problems independently.

AI is not a productivity add-on in this environment; it is how the team builds. Engineers use agentic development as standard equipment, moving from problem to production-ready code faster than traditional development allows, while keeping the work reviewable and maintainable. The platform carries sensitive, regulated data at scale, so reliability and correctness are non-negotiable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and build shared platform capabilities: own the architecture and delivery of reusable backend services, libraries, frameworks, and integrations that application teams depend on, with clear interfaces, failure modes, and operational contracts
  • Make AWS infrastructure usable through software: build application-level abstractions, automation, and integration patterns that let teams use cloud services securely and reliably
  • Direct implementation rather than writing it line by line: decompose platform work, write specifications and contracts, and delegate implementation to AI agents, stepping into code when complexity, debugging, or technical judgment demands it
  • Engineer for reuse, compatibility, and testability: design for multiple consumers, backward compatibility, safe migrations, and verifiable behavior
  • Own the testing strategy and validate that generated tests provide meaningful evidence
  • Build reliability, security, and observability into the platform: establish defaults for authentication, authorization, failure handling, telemetry, and deployment safety that improve every service built on it
  • Own production outcomes and platform adoption: review agent and human work with the same rigor, respond to incidents, and work with consuming teams to make shared capabilities practical to adopt and operate
  • Remain accountable for the full lifecycle: planning, design, code, tests, review, and production
Education & Qualifications
  • Deep server-side engineering experience in Java, Python, C#, Kotlin, or Go; you have designed and operated backend systems and built reusable components that other engineers depend on
  • Strong distributed systems fundamentals: API and event contracts, asynchronous messaging, concurrency, idempotency, consistency, failure handling, and versioning across independently deployed services
  • Hands-on AWS experience designing and operating production workloads, including compute, networking, storage, databases, messaging, IAM, and the tradeoffs among managed services
  • Comfortable with containers, infrastructure as code, and CI/CD
  • Experience building shared backend foundations (service frameworks, common libraries, authentication and authorization, integration layers, or similar capabilities) with deliberate attention to compatibility, configuration, documentation, and adoption
  • Reliability and security engineering experience in production: observability, SLOs, incident response, resilient architectures, and secure handling of sensitive or regulated data
  • A testing strategy appropriate for shared platform software: unit, integration, contract, and compatibility testing, with reliable CI feedback and confidence that changes will not break downstream consumers
  • Agentic AI is your primary development surface: you can specify complex platform work, direct agents to implement it, and verify correctness across integrations, edge cases, and operational behavior
  • You have shipped production software this way and can identify where human judgment is essential
Why Our Client
  • Work on shared platform capabilities that improve every service and team built on top of them
  • AI-native engineering culture where agentic development is the standard way of working
  • Opportunity to own architecture and delivery across the full lifecycle, from design through production
  • High-impact modernization effort with a focus on reliability, security, and quality
  • Fully remote role
Compensation, Benefits And Perks
  • Base salary range: $160,000 – $200,000 USD (actual compensation depends on experience, education, pay market/geography, and scheduled hours)
  • Full benefits package, including PTO, medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) with match
  • Employee assistance program and wellness program
