Job summary

ServiceNow is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Core Cryptography, to design and build secure cryptographic services such as key management, PKI, and secrets for a large-scale SaaS platform. You will bring hands-on engineering depth, a security-first mindset, and may apply ML/AI techniques to strengthen detection of misuse, under staff+ engineers.

This role requires 4+ years of experience, proficiency in Java or Go, Kubernetes, and knowledge of cryptographic primitives.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Java, Go, or equivalent OO language.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.
• Experience deploying and operating services on Kubernetes in a SaaS/multi-tenant environment.
• Familiarity with core cryptographic primitives (symmetric/asymmetric encryption, hashing, digital signatures, PKI/TLS fundamentals).
• Demonstrated security-conscious coding habits: secure coding, code review, unit testing, automation.
• Direct experience with cryptography, PKI, key management, or secrets management systems.
• Some applied ML/AI exposure — anomaly detection, classification, or integrating AI tooling into engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain secure cryptographic services meeting FIPS compliance and regulated-environment requirements.
• Operate services on Kubernetes in a multi-tenant SaaS environment.
• Collaborate with product owners, security architects, and engineering teams to translate security and compliance requirements into working code.
• Apply ML/statistical techniques to detect anomalous usage and access patterns.
• Stay current on cryptographic advancements and post-quantum readiness.
