Job summary

AT&T is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer in Plano, TX to lead reliability, security, scalability, and governance of enterprise platforms and cloud services. You will design and evolve enterprise-grade applications, guiding automation and modernization efforts across cloud and on-prem environments.

You will drive observability, deployment governance, incident management, and capacity planning, mentoring senior engineers while coordinating with Architecture, Security, and Operations teams.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, operating, and governing large-scale enterprise platforms.
• 7+ years in cloud platforms, infrastructure services, platform engineering, and governance.
• Experience with containerized workloads, orchestration platforms, microservices, and cloud-native deployments.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, release automation, artifact management, and infrastructure automation.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, observability, logging, and service health strategies.
• Strong understanding of security controls, access governance, and compliance practices.
• Experience leading platform upgrades, lifecycle management, disaster recovery, and resiliency improvements.
• Strong troubleshooting across infrastructure, apps, integrations, networking, and workflows.
• Ability to define SOPs, runbooks, operational playbooks, and technical docs.
• Cost optimization, capacity planning, license management, and lifecycle planning.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technical leader and platform steward for critical enterprise platforms and cloud services.
• Define platform strategy, architecture alignment, and modernization roadmaps.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives across Engineering, Operations, Architecture, Cybersecurity, and Support.
• Establish engineering standards, automation principles, and governance models.
• Own platform reliability, scalability, resiliency, and business continuity posture.
• Lead compliance, cybersecurity, access governance, risk management, and audits.
