Job summary

Charles Schwab’s Enterprise Delivery Enablement group seeks a Senior Software Development & Engineering Lead to modernize Schwab’s engineering ecosystem and empower engineers across the firm. You will shape and implement platforms, APIs, and automation supporting cloud migrations, SDLC modernization, and AI-enabled practices.

You will guide globally distributed teams, influence technical direction, and mentor engineers while balancing modernization with operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience building and supporting enterprise applications.
• 5+ years of experience designing and implementing APIs, distributed systems, integrations, or microservice architectures.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Python, C#, or similar backend technologies.
• Strong scripting proficiency for Linux/Windows servers (Bash, PowerShell).
• Experience designing and supporting enterprise integrations and service-oriented architectures.
• Experience with large-scale technology transformation or migration initiatives.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design, authentication, authorization, and security principles.
• Experience with automation, CI/CD, source control, and DevOps practices.
• Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Experience in Agile delivery environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and support enterprise platforms, services, and integrations enabling software delivery.
• Lead technical execution of modernization initiatives including cloud adoption and platform evolution.
• Design scalable APIs and automation to improve developer productivity and efficiency.
• Partner with product owners, architects, platform teams, and engineering leaders to define roadmaps.
• Drive best practices in software development, observability, security, reliability, and DevOps.
• Contribute hands-on development, scripting, and troubleshooting across initiatives.
• Support production systems and participate in resiliency improvements and operational excellence.
• Evaluate emerging technologies including AI-enabled engineering capabilities.
