Job summary

The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) in Chicago seeks a Principal, Platform Architecture to define the technical direction of OCC's core platform, owning how we build, deploy, operate, and evolve infrastructure across cloud‑native environments. This hands‑on role has enterprise‑wide impact.

You will lead POC efforts, establish platform standards, and collaborate with Application Architecture, Engineering, Security, and operations to ensure a resilient, scalable foundation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of infrastructure/platform architecture experience.
• Hands‑on Kubernetes architecture and design at scale.
• Experience with Kafka deployments and stream processing.
• Strong AWS architecture experience and GitOps knowledge.
• Ability to produce clear architecture artifacts and present to executives.

Responsibilities

• Define and own platform architecture including Kubernetes, streaming, and CI/CD.
• Drive migration to cloud‑native patterns on AWS and establish guardrails.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations to ensure buildable, operable designs.
• Lead architecture reviews, risk reduction, and resilience improvements.
