Job summary

Lane County is seeking an experienced Senior Plans Examiner to perform advanced technical review of complex residential, commercial, and industrial construction plans. This role applies Oregon codes to ensure safety, compliance, and efficient movement from design to construction.

The position offers meaningful flexibility, including hybrid work with most tasks remote, flexible scheduling, minimal field inspections, and no required overtime.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade; specialized training in engineering, architecture, or related field desirable.
• Three years of responsible plans examination experience.
• Equivalent combo of experience and training may qualify.

Responsibilities

• Review plans, specifications, engineering documents, and calculations for compliance with codes and regulations.
• Serve as a technical resource for architects, engineers, contractors, property owners, inspectors, and County staff.
• Provide guidance and consultations on complex construction issues and ensure timely plan-review practices.
• Help applicants navigate the permitting process with clarity and professionalism.
