Job summary

Qualifications

• Two years of plans examination experience for a local or State jurisdiction acquired after attainment of ICC certification as a Plans Examiner.
• Equivalents or one year as a Plans Examiner I in Nevada State service may be accepted.
• Regulations, codes and standards knowledge required for complex plan reviews.

Responsibilities

• Identify corrective action needed, and write reports to inform applicants and authorities; discuss findings with applicants and officials.
• Consult with architects, engineers, contractors, and agencies on code interpretations and regulations.
• Maintain awareness of fire/life safety systems and participate in researching products and listings; maintain a library of approved products.
• Conduct site inspections of buildings and facilities as assigned.
• Draft and recommend amendments to regulations based on changes to adopted standards; assist in adopting model codes; consult with ICC and NFPA to resolve code applications.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
