Job summary

Public Agency Resources (PARS) is seeking a remote, full-time Plans Examiner in Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Tallahassee, or Gainesville, FL. The candidate will review plans for Florida Building Code compliance across multiple disciplines and coordinate with various departments to ensure timely reviews.

Qualifications include at least 3 years' experience in FL, a valid FL Plans Examiner license (RPX/PX), and strong communication skills with proficiency in inspection software.

Responsibilities

• Review construction plans for compliance with the Florida Building Code and local regulations.
• Evaluate plans across disciplines such as Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Energy, and Accessibility.
• Confirm materials and systems comply with listings and Florida Product Approvals.
• Communicate deficiencies and required corrections to architects, engineers, contractors, developers, and owners.
• Provide clear code references and guidance to help applicants achieve compliance.
• Coordinate plan reviews with other departments or agencies (fire, zoning, utilities, etc.).
• Respond to questions from the public and industry professionals regarding building code requirements.
• Interpret and apply the Florida Building Code and stay current with updates.
• Maintain documentation of plan review notes, approvals, corrections, and correspondence.
• Track compliance with Florida Statute requirements and review timelines.
• Uphold ethical standards and impartial application of codes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Review construction plans, drawings, and specifications for compliance with the Florida Building Code (FBC), local ordinances, and all applicable state and federal regulations.
• Evaluate plans across relevant disciplines such as Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Energy, and Accessibility.
• Confirm that proposed materials, systems, and assemblies comply with approved listing standards and Florida Product Approvals.
• Communicate identified deficiencies and required corrections to architects, engineers, contractors, developers, and property owners.
• Provide clear code references and guidance to help applicants achieve compliance.
• Coordinate plan reviews with other departments or agencies (fire, zoning, utilities, environmental, health, etc.).
• Respond to questions from the public and industry professionals regarding building code requirements.
• Interpret and apply the Florida Building Code, including updates and amendments.
• Maintain documentation of plan review notes, approvals, corrections, and correspondence.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• At least (3) years' experience as a Plans Examiner in the State of Florida.
• Valid Florida Plans Examiner License: "RPX " License or "PX" (Standard Building Plans Examiner and one commercial Plans Examiner MEP license) required.
• Valid Florida driver's license; ability to travel within the jurisdiction.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations.
