Job summary

State of New Hampshire, Department of Business and Economic Affairs, Office of Planning and Development, is seeking a Senior Planner for a full-time vacancy in Concord, NH. The role will manage the State Development Plan and lead cross-agency planning initiatives.

The Senior Planner will oversee project timelines, coordinate with federal, state, local partners, and consultants, and guide staff in applying advanced planning methods to statewide outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4.5 years of experience OR equivalent combination of 8.5 years of education and experience after high school.
  • Education and experience must be in land use or urban planning, geography, public policy/law, public administration, community development, architecture, landscape architecture, or a related field.
  • License/Certification: Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Project manager reporting to the OPD Administrator on updating and maintaining the State Development Plan.
  • Develops timelines; conducts outreach with federal, state, local, and regional partners; manages consultants; publishes and updates plan per RSA 9-A for Governor submission every 4 years.
  • Leads planning studies and reports in collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
  • Supervises the Assistant Planner and provides mentorship to junior staff.
  • Serves in a Deputy role, attending management meetings and advising on policies and processes.
