Job summary

The Town of Knightdale is seeking a Senior Planner to lead current planning activities, work with developers and Town boards, and guide land use and development matters. You will prepare staff reports for Town Council and present recommendations to boards and community groups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in city planning or closely related field; Master’s preferred.
• Experience in municipal planning and development with progressively increasing responsibility.
• Ability to prepare and present oral and written reports to boards and town council.
• Strong knowledge of zoning ordinances, subdivision regulations, and land use planning.

Responsibilities

• Lead current planning activities including site plan and subdivision review and rezoning requests.
• Prepare recommendations and staff reports for Town Council meetings.
• Present land use and development matters to Town boards and community groups.
• Coordinate with developers, boards, and the community to navigate the development process.
• Oversee planning policies, ordinances, and procedures; administer grants as needed.
• Assist in development plan review processes and ensure compliance with codes.
