Job summary

Provost & Pritchard is seeking a Senior Planner to join our Idaho planning team. You will guide public and private sector clients through comprehensive and zoning plans, specific areas, and regional planning initiatives, while leading a team of professionals.

You will oversee complex land-use projects, manage budgets, and provide guidance to staff, stakeholders, and officials. Strong communication and leadership are essential in this collaborative role in Meridian, ID.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in planning or related field.
  • 6+ years of relevant professional experience in land use planning and project/staff management.
  • Knowledge of Idaho Local Land Use Planning Act and related statutes.
  • NEPA knowledge preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Strong communication and leadership for meetings.
  • Able to present information clearly to officials and the public.
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft 365.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive plans, zoning rewrites, neighborhood studies, specific area plans, and facilities plans.
  • Lead public outreach, workshops, and stakeholder meetings to gather community input.
  • Prepare detailed staff reports and present findings to elected and community bodies.
  • Review and process complex development proposals including rezonings, annexations, and site plans.
  • Monitor and lead development of proposals for community and regional plans.
  • Develop and oversee a team of professionals in community planning projects.
  • Act as a client liaison and develop client relationships.
  • Participate in and manage project budgets and schedules.
  • Grow work opportunities with billable tasks for staff.
