Responsibilities

• Review submitted plans for compliance with the Virginia Building Code.
• Provide technical code information to the public and staff.
• Attend meetings and trainings to stay current on developments.
• Communicate with stakeholders during plan design and development.
• Conduct on-site inspections and enforce building codes.
• Educate architects, engineers, contractors, and the public on code changes.
• Receive and address complaints regarding non-compliant construction.
• Testify in court on code violation cases.
• Monitor revisions to building codes and policies.
• Develop and update informational documents.
• Collaborate with inspectors and permit specialists to maintain processes.
