Job summary

Ford Motor Company seeks a Senior Software Engineer specializing in PKI and secure API services to own cryptographic infrastructure end-to-end. You will design, build, deploy, and maintain PKI APIs powering certificate issuance, lifecycle management, and hardware security module integration for enterprise and cloud-native environments.

You will lead architecture, collaborate with security architects and product teams, and deliver production-grade systems protecting billions in digital assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5+ years in software engineering with secure coding practices.
• Experience with industry security standards: NIST, OWASP; ISO/IEEE relevance.
• Strong software architecture knowledge and design principles including TDD.
• Knowledge of Identity and Access Management in software services.
• Experience deploying cloud infrastructure with Kubernetes/OpenShift; DBs (Postgres, Redis, MongoDB).
• Experience building and maintaining production PKI systems and cryptographic interfaces.
• Deep understanding of PKI, RSA, ECC, AES, X.509, PKCS#11, ACME, OCSP, CRL, and HSM integrations.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end PKI and Key Management API services life cycle from requirements to deployment.
• Design and develop robust RESTful APIs and web services for certificate issuance, revocation, and key management.
• Implement strong cryptographic engineering practices and PKI policies.
• Ensure high availability through fault-tolerant architectures and disaster recovery planning.
• Integrate with on-premises and cloud Kubernetes infrastructures and CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor security findings via SAST/DAST, and coordinate remediation with teams.
• Lead code reviews and mentor engineers while contributing technically.
• Collaborate with ECU teams to align key management with embedded architectures.
