Job summary

Zachry Group is seeking an experienced Piping Estimator III in Texas to join our team. The role requires strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills to develop accurate project estimates from plans and specifications.

You will read drawings, prepare material take-offs, analyze data, and collaborate with bid teams to ensure deliverables meet schedules. A high school diploma is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Some travel for bid meetings may be needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to compile material and labor take-offs and solicit/evaluate pricing from vendors.
• Understands estimate types (Lump Sum, T&M, Fixed Fee, Budgetary, Unit Rates, Unit Price).
• Ability to interact with customers, vendors and inter-company personnel on a professional level.
• Ability to work in a group environment and willingness to share knowledge and learn from others.
• Can manage multiple tasks, projects and priorities in a logical, methodical manner.
• Strong knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Excel/Word.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• The ability and willingness to work under tight time restraints.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
• Strong work ethic - Willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• The ability to travel for bid meetings and site visits (normally 1 to 2 days).
• High School or equivalent education + field experience

Responsibilities

• Develop preliminary or definitive estimates for pipe fabrication and installation using company software.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specs.
• Prepare detailed material take-offs and analyze historical data.
• Incorporate labor and material cost decisions into estimates.
• Review estimates for accuracy and completeness.
• Revise estimates with scope changes or new information.
• Attend bid meetings as required.
• Use In-Eight and MS Office to analyze data and prepare recommendations.
• Participate in site visits to define scope and deliverables.
• Perform other duties to support new projects and ongoing jobs.
