Job summary

Tetra Tech, Inc. is recruiting a Piping Designer III to develop 3D piping models and deliver P&IDs for oil and gas facilities, refineries, and processing plants.

The role requires independent work on projects and collaboration with supervision as needed. With 4–10 years of drafting and design experience in the industry, you will generate project deliverables, adhere to codes, and support project estimates while tracking schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; post-secondary training preferred.
• 4–10 years of design, drafting and modeling experience in oil & gas.
• Oil and gas experience including refineries and gas processing is preferred.
• Proficient in current engineering design and drafting software packages.
• Knowledge of ASTM/ASME B31.3, B31.4 and B31.8 codes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D piping and equipment models for entire projects; optimize piping design with supervision.
• Draft P&ID redlines and develop high-level P&IDs from scratch.
• Generate project deliverables (isometrics, piping plans, plot plans, MTOs) and review before checking.
• Understand process flow through facilities, including well pads, compressor stations, dehy units, gas processing and refineries.
• Under supervision, generate project piping estimates for review with management.
• Track schedule and budget during a project and anticipate manpower changes.
• Track project scope changes and initiate change orders to management.
