Job summary

Orion in Houston, TX seeks a Senior Piping Designer to lead piping systems for large industrial projects. The role functions as the primary design checker for piping, directing and quality-controlling work of other designers with independence and expert-level proficiency in upstream O&G and desalination processes.

The candidate will use Navisworks, CADWorx, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and SmartPlant 3D to deliver layouts, isometrics, MTOs, and pipe supports, while ensuring compliance with ASME B31.3 and

Qualifications

10+ years of progressive piping design experience in the EPC industrial sector.
Checker-level expertise validating layouts, isometrics, and MTOs against P&IDs.
Strong knowledge of ASME B31.3, API, ANSI, and industry standards.
Expert-level proficiency with CAD tools and 3D modeling.
Excellent communication and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

Lead piping design efforts on medium to large industrial projects from concept through construction support.
Independently create and manage complex piping deliverables: layouts, isometrics, MTOs, tie-in lists.
Serve as formal Piping Design Checker, performing comprehensive technical checks.
Review deliverables against project specifications and codes; ensure constructability and safety.
Provide day-to-day technical direction to piping designers and drafters.
Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure design integration.
