Job summary

Apex Systems in Houston, TX (partial remote) seeks a Sr. Piping Designer to lead piping design activities for EPC/heavy industrial projects. You will oversee drafters and engineers, review deliverables for quality, and ensure compliance with codes and standards.

The role requires 12+ years of piping design experience, EPC background, and leadership abilities. CADWorx/Bluebeam/Navisworks skills are preferred, with a BS or drafting certificate a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years piping design experience in energy/chemicals/refining/LNG/power generation.
• Piping lead and checking experience required; EPC/heavy industrial background preferred.
• Proficiency with CADWorx, Bluebeam, Navisworks preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support Department Manager with design and drafting execution, staffing, and budgets.
• Direct and manage drafters, designers, and engineers in project planning and execution.
• Ensure deliverables (construction drawings, design studies, BOMs) meet codes and standards.
• Schedule work assignments and provide training to designers/drafters.
• Coordinate with client and construction personnel to address requirements.
• Assist in preparing engineering and construction estimates.
• Approve drawings to ensure conformity with standards.
• Maintain engineering document indices and drafting progress reports.
