Job summary

Orion Engineers + Constructors is seeking a Piping Designer to design, develop, and implement piping systems for industrial projects, with a focus on efficiency, constructability, and safety. You will work under the project lead and coordinate with multiple disciplines to deliver design integrity.

The ideal candidate has mid- to senior-level piping design experience and a solid working knowledge of applicable codes and design tools, including Navisworks, CADWorx, and AutoCAD Plant 3D.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting Technology or related field.
• 5+ years of piping design experience with fieldwork on small to medium projects.
• Strong knowledge of ASME B31.3 and applicable codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and independently create detailed piping designs for small to medium projects.
• Optimize routes and layouts for constructability, efficiency and safety.
• Conduct field surveys to gather data for design updates.
• Review designs for compliance with industry codes and client requirements.
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and other disciplines.
• Support material take-offs (MTOs) and procurement deliverables.
• Utilize 3D modeling tools (Navisworks, CADWorx, AutoCAD Plant 3D) and review peers' drafting work.
