Job description

We currently have an opening in our Pittsburgh office for an experienced Piping Designer in our Energy division. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of engineers and designers on multiple projects for the Oil and Gas industry. This is a great opportunity for a motivated, energetic individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. In coordination with engineers and other designers, produce construction drawings and plan set using computer-aided drafting programs (mainly CADWorx, knowledge of additional CAD software like Plant3D and Revit is a plus).
2. Completes tasks on projects including preparing P&ID’s, piping plans, piping sections, isometrics, bill of materials, etc.
3. Closely teamwork with other members of the project team with a willingness to take on more responsibilities as your experience evolves.
4. Work closely with design leads and engineers in recommending the best use of CAD tools to achieve project objectives, troubleshoot and resolve issues with CAD tools.
5. Perform thorough quality control edits (red lines) of construction documents as directed by design team and utilizing the correct project and/or company standards.
6. Assist on site visits with project/survey team.
7. Demonstrate good character traits and rapport with colleagues.

Capabilities and Credentials:

1. Minimum 8 years experience.
2. Technical Training preferred or equivalent experience.
3. Ability to work on multiple projects under the guidance of project managers / engineers / lead designers.
4. Ability to read and understand construction documents such as, drawings, sketches, 3d representations, etc.
5. Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
6. Ability to retain information, details, procedures for use on future projects.
7. Working knowledge in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, AutoCAD 2D and CAD Worx Plant 3D applications, and other relevant software such as Revit and MicroStation is a plus.
8. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
9. Able to work under and meet tight deadlines.
10. Punctual, dependable, detail-oriented, thorough.
11. Develop towards the ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
12. Ability to travel up to 10%.
