Job summary

Quantinuum is seeking a Senior Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) Design engineer at our CO or Albuquerque, NM location or remote with approvals. You will join a team of physicists and optical engineers to develop commercial and research quantum computing systems, designing photonic components and systems to meet stringent performance specs.

The role requires a Master’s degree and 6+ years of PIC design experience using Lumerical/RSoft and layout tools, plus 4+ years in optical/photonic systems.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in optics, physics, engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of PIC design using photonic simulation tools and layout tools.
• 4+ years of optical/photonic systems experience and ability to meet specs.
• U.S. Person required for contractual reasons.
• National security rules restrict PRC/Russia nationals unless U.S. citizen.

Responsibilities

• Join a team of physicists and optical engineers supporting quantum computing systems.
• Design and develop integrated photonic components and systems across the spectrum.
• Collaborate across architecture, physics, photonics, fabrication, and mechanical engineering.
• Translate requirements into action plans and verify component performance.
• Design novel PICs to meet challenging specifications.
• Layout PICs and validate performance with fabrication/test teams.
• Lead PIC development and coordinate with external vendors for key demonstrators.
