Quantinuum is seeking a Senior Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) Design engineer to join a diverse team of physicists and optical engineers in Broomfield, CO, Albuquerque, NM, or remote with approvals. The role focuses on designing, modeling, and validating PICs for quantum computing applications, with close collaboration across architecture, fabrication, and test teams.

The candidate will drive requirements, develop novel photonic components, and lead demonstrations, leveraging expert knowledge

Qualifications

• Masters degree minimum in a related field.
• 6+ years of PIC design experience using photonic simulation tools and layout tools.
• 4+ years’ experience with optical/photonic systems.
• U.S. person required; eligibility per U.S. government restrictions.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a team of physicists and optical engineers supporting the development of commercial and research systems for quantum computing.
• Design and develop integrated photonic components and systems to deliver and manipulate light across the spectrum.
• Collaborate across disciplines to define systems and ensure performance requirements are met.
• Gather requirements, turn into action plans, and ensure components meet requirements.
• Design novel PICs to meet challenging specifications.
• Layout test PICs and coordinate with fabrication/test teams to validate performance.
• Lead PIC development and coordinate with external vendors for demonstrators.
