Job summary

North Wind Services (NWS) is seeking an experienced Physicist for LLNL in Livermore, CA. The role focuses on modeling nuclear/chemical explosions and EM field detection within the LYNM program, requiring leadership and advanced multi-physics expertise.

On-site work with senior-level responsibilities and collaboration with LLNL management. The candidate will work in a fast-paced, high-security environment, mentoring staff, generating inputs for new codes, and ensuring accurate simulation results.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Physics, Engineering or Applied Sciences with 10+ years of hands-on experience in multi-physics calculations.
• Experience setting up multi-physics calculations related to EM source production from explosions.
• Experience presenting technical results to stakeholders and headquarters.
• Experience training new team members to reproduce results and develop models.
• Experience with Linux clusters on LC/OCF/SCF.
• Experience with MHD solvers in hydrocodes.
• Experience preparing experimental data and technical graphics/reports.

Responsibilities

• Mentor Design Physics Division personnel and transfer knowledge.
• Address programmatic questions for the LYNM Program and predict observed responses.
• Simulate magnetic moments from chemical explosions and compare with prior data.
• Improve understanding of EM source generation from explosions.
• Generate input files for multi-physics calculations and adapt code to new staff.
