Job summary

Lumilens in San Jose, CA is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to drive process development for novel III-V etching, coating, and related semiconductor fabrication modules. You will translate product requirements into executable process flows, define tooling and metrology needs, and establish repeatable processes scalable to manufacturing.

You will lead DOE studies, optimize etch and coating performance, and collaborate across device, photonics, packaging, and manufacturing teams to troubleshoot

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with wet or dry etching, coating, thin films, deposition, lithography, metrology.
• Translate product requirements into executable process flows, specifications and control plans.
• DOE design, process characterization, and data-driven optimization experience.
• Define metrology methods and work with SEM, profilometry, ellipsometry, optical inspection.
• Document and institutionalize new processes with flows, recipes, and training materials.

Responsibilities

• Drive process development for III-V etching, coating, and related fabrication modules.
• Translate product and device requirements into clear process requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Define tooling needs, including equipment capability, process windows, fixturing, and vendors.
• Design, execute, and manage DOEs to optimize etch profiles, coating performance, yield, and manufacturability.
• Define metrology requirements and outsourcing approach for process development and qualification.
• Evaluate tooling and vendors based on capability, cost, scalability, and longevity of ownership.
• Institutionalize new tools through documentation, process flows, work instructions, and training.
• Support silicon photonics processing flows and assess integration risks and yields.
• Collaborate with device, photonics, packaging, manufacturing, and external fab partners to resolve issues.
