Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required. Completion of two years of college with at least one general mathematics course preferred.
• Licensure or eligibility for licensure as Registered Pharmacy Technician in Illinois; Certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
• Pharmacy students in PharmD program excluded from certification requirements.
• Must successfully complete and maintain in-house aseptic technique and cytotoxic agent handling and parenteral nutrition solution preparation certification.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates the work activities and training of pharmacy technicians and assists in their performance appraisals.
• Evaluates and reports new technician performance to the senior clinical pharmacist.
• Suggests policy and procedure changes to improve workflow.
• Takes on special projects after discussion with the senior clinical pharmacist.
• Enters new orders under the direction of a pharmacist and processes prescriptions and refills.
