Job summary

Qualifications

• Hospital pharmacy experience including sterile compounding strongly preferred.
• Must have knowledge of pharmacy names, doses, strengths, and formulations.
• Must successfully complete Pharmacy Technician competency programs through on-the-job exposure.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacists in the performance of technical functions and support professional functions in the provision of pharmaceutical services to patients, staff, and physicians.
• Prepare parenteral products: IV, IVPBs, and TPN solutions according to policies and procedures.
• Process printed medication orders and stock medication requests; manage ambulance trays and code cart trays.
• Answer telephone calls and respond to the customer service window.
• Repack or replace returned medication to appropriate storage areas; monitor par levels and restock controlled substances.
• Act as a resource for junior technicians and participate in training.
