Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Sr Perioperative Nursing Assistant to support surgical services. You will assist with patient preparation, provide independent preceptor duties, orient new PNAs, and serve as a clinical resource while prioritizing patient safety and teamwork.

Ideal candidates have two years’ perioperative experience or GN pursuing RN licensure, and hold BLS certification. This role emphasizes relationship-centered care within a collaborative anesthesia and surgical team.

Qualifications

• Two years in a Perioperative Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Assistant role or Graduate Nurse (GN) who will be retaking the NCLEX for RN licensure.
• BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) - American Heart Association required.
• Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, families and co-workers.
• Adheres to safety rules and maintains a safe patient environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs assistant-level care for Surgical Services patients within defined limits.
• Prepares the physical environment prior to procedures and maintains a clean, organized space.
• Transports patients and assists with positioning before surgery.
• Monitors supplies and ensures availability of gowns, masks, and cleaning materials.
• Contributes to patient satisfaction and teamwork through clear communication and proactive assistance.
